Host Families for Japanese Delegates

There are three boys and three girls that are looking forward to visiting Idaho this summer! They need host families as soon as possible so that they can plan their trip! Host families should have a child of the same gender and approximately the same age as the visiting child. To learn more about hosting Japanese delegates click here !

National 4-H Conference

National 4-H Conference starts Saturday, April 2 thru Thursday, April 7 at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland. This event is held annually and is open to 4-H youth ages 15 to 18 (age as of January ) This conference is a strategic planning conference for the future of 4-H. Delegates meet in consulting groups to discuss plans for 4-H and the Cooperative Extension System. Delegates also have a chance to tour national monuments, the Capitol, and other events. A few of our Ada County 4-H members are getting ready to go to this conference this week! If you can see yourself going to this conference next year and helping to shape the future of 4-H look for the applications forms to be available at the end of the year (November to December) To learn more about the conference click here !

College Scholarship Deadlines

The deadline for the Ada County Endowment Board college scholarship application is Friday, April 1st. The application is available at the Extension Office. You can also send an email to request the application to dhobbs@uidaho.edu You can mail the completed application to 5880 Glenwood, Boise, 83714 or fax: 208-287-5909 or by email! State Horse Bowl Contest

Several Ada County 4-H members recently competed in the District II Horse Bowl held on March 5th. The top three teams from this competition are qualified to compete at the State Horse Bowl Competition July 6th and 7th in Blackfoot. Everyone who competed did an incredible job and congratulations to the Riata Riders Junior Team, Riata Riders Senior Team, and the Just Horsin' Around Senior Team . These three teams are qualified to compete at the State Contest!

Shooting Sports Trainings

There are three Shooting Sports Trainings coming up in April! All registration forms will be available at the Extension Office or on the website. Handgun/Pistol Training: April 2, Parma, ID. Registration deadline for this training is Friday, March 25th. The cost is $65.00, this includes breakfast, lunch, snacks, and resources Archery Training : April 9, Jermone, ID. Registration deadline is Friday, April 1st. The cost for this trainings is $65.00. This includes breakfast, lunch, snacks, and resources. Shotgun Training: April 16th, Marsing, ID. Registration deadline is Friday, April 8th. The cost for this training is $40.00. this includes breakfast, lunch, snacks, and resources. There is an online training module that must be completed before the trainings.

Teen Conference

Teen Conference is held annually at the University of Idaho campus in Moscow. This event is open to all youth (you do not have to be enrolled in 4-H to attend!) finishing grades 8 through 12. The 2011 Teen Conference is Monday, June 13 to Friday, June 17, 2011. You will stay in dorm rooms and attend fun and educational workshops! The track workshops will be available soon, but some of the past workshops have included dancing, sewing, learning about fashion, challenge events, leadership, fitness, self defense and more! The cost is $225 if paid by April 15th and $250 after April 15th. Scholarships are available! The District II scholarship is due on March 23rd fill this form out and return to the Extension Office

4-H Dollar Days

The 4-H Mall is having a big sale until March 11, 2011! $1.00 items are $.75 and $1.50 items are $1.00 Here's the link to the 4-H Mall!

Dynamite Feed Mill Tour

Tour the Dynamite Feed Mill on Wednesday, March 30th at 11:00 am. The address is 611 N Main St, Meridian. Lunch will be served and there will be door prizes! Call 287-5900 to RSVP by March 21th.

Smith Lever Bill

Senate will be voting on reducing the Smith Lever 3b&c funds by the end of this week. We encourage everyone to read this letter and contact your representatives concerning the reduction in funding to Extension. A cut in this funding will impact the Ada County 4-H Program and the Ada County Extension Office. It will also impact the State 4-H Office. If you have any questions please contact us at 208-287-5900
