Shooting Sports

More Shooting Sports Training coming up! Rifle shooting sports training will be held in Salmon, ID Monday, June 20 and Tuesday, June 21. Registration fee is $30 and includes breakfast and lunch on Tuesday, snacks, and resources. The deadline to register is Monday, June 6. This training is a must have for any 4-H leader that would like to teach the shooting sports project in rifle. For more information call 287-5900 or click here to see the brochure!

Fun Match

Oodles of Animals is hosting their Fun Match again on Saturday, June 11 at the Dairy Barn Arena by Storey Park and Meridian Speedway. Registration starts at 9:00 am and the show begins at 9:30 am. This a great opportunity to practice showmanship and prepare for fair! There will also be a quilting contest. Lunch will be available for purchase. If you're new to 4-H and this will be your first time at the fair this Fun Match is a great experience! Showmanship contests will be held on various small animals and market lamb. Check out the topics being covered: Nutrition Quality assurance in lamb production Disease diagnostic Judging Field Day will be held Tuesday, June 7 at the Payette County Fairgrounds in New Plymouth from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Pre-register to Gem County Extension by Friday, June 3rd by calling 365-6363 or email: gem@uidaho.edu The fee of $2.00 per person will be collected at check in.

Spotlight on Day Camps

Iron Chef Wednesday, June 8 to Friday, June 10 9:00 am to 2:00 pm Do you know someone who likes to cook? Campers will learn new methods to transform healthy ingredients into fantastic dishes! Come join in and see the magic! Share the magic with your family on the final day of camp at a luncheon held for families! But wait there's more!                            Can you handle a team cook off? Show off your new skills in this cooking competition! This intense competition will show case everything you've learned at camp. See you at camp! Ages: 12 - 16. Cost: $30.00 

Day Camp Spotlight!

We are offering a new day camp this year! WeDo  Robotics!  Robotics isn't just for big kids anymore! This day camp introduces the younger crowd to the Lego Robotics program. You will learn to build a Lego robot and program it! Campers will work together to create a story and use their robot to bring it to life. What a great way to learn teamwork as the campers work together on their projects. This two day camp will be held Monday, June 6 and Tuesday, June 7 from 9:00 am to noon at the Ada County Extension Office. The cost is $16.00 and open to ages 6 to 9.

Spring Clean Up Weekend

This weekend is the 4-H Adventure Camp Clean Up Weekend! We're getting camp ready for the 2011 camping season. Volunteers will be helping with maintenance on the camp and the grounds after the long winter. If you are unable to help this weekend donations and materials are always welcome.       As the 4-H Adventure Camp approaches its 50th year their Camp Board is gearing up to a fundraiser to finance upgrades and improvements to the camp to see it through the next 50 years! There are some great classes coming up taught by our Extension Educators. These classes are geared towards adults and are informative and fun. Whole Grain Artisan Bread Class: Thursday, May 19, 7:00 pm, Ada County Extension. Learn how to make whole grain breads. Hands on class, bring a 5 to 6 quart container. Make your own Artisan Bread! Growing and Using Herbs: Thursday, May 26, 7:00 pm, Ada County Extension. Learn how to grow your own herbs and how to use them in your cooking! These classes are $8.00 each and you still have time to register. Look at our website for information or call 287-5900.

Native Plants

If you're interested in plants this is an interesting field day and tour! The University of Idaho, Aberdeen Research & Extension Center in Aberdeen is holding a Field Day on Thursday, June 30 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Tour native wildflower and shrub evaluation plots, see grasses, penstemons, mints, columbines, and many other plants. There is also a hardy rose garden and lawn and turf research area. Call 208-397-4181 for more information.

Don't forget the weigh in dates are coming up fast for sheep and swine! If you are showing sheep or swine at the Western Idaho Fair use the following weigh in dates only: Swine : Tuesday, May 10, 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm - Expo Idaho (Western Idaho Fairgrounds) Sheep : Thursday, May 19, 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm - Expo Idaho (Western Idaho Fairgrounds) If you are planning on showing at the Canyon County Fair please use these weigh in dates only: Sheep : Tuesday, May 17, 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Canyon County Fairgrounds Market Goat : Tuesday, May 17, 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Canyon County Fairgrounds Don't forget your COOL form! The Summer Day Camp brochure is now here! Click here to view it. The camps fill up fast so register now! Look for new camps this year like Kayaking, Treasure Hunts, CPR, and more. The cost for each day camp may vary and the ages limits also vary so check the requirements for each camp. We can always use teen helpers at our day camps.
