Are you ready for fair? Here's some more opportunities to prepare for the Western Idaho Fair: Ranch Cow Working Clinic Saturday, July 30th at Spencer Training in Eagle at 9:00 am There will be ranch riding, single cow penning, and team sorting.  This will be a qualifier and also a fundraiser for the Ada County 4-H Horse Council. All classes $10 each, team sorting $10 per person. Day total $25. You must pre-register by today, Thursday, July 28th. Call Rich 941-9616 or Jane 794-8105 Fair Warm Up/Fuzzy Show Tuesday, August 2 at Western Idaho Fairgrounds, 5:00 pm This is your chance to practice while experiencing the fair environment! You can practice Western and Bareback fair classes. You will also have the chance to check tack and rule clarification. The cost is $4 per class, to receive a discount bring or fax (287-5909) your entry form by Tuesday, August 2 before 5:00 pm Call Jane 794-8105 with questions

Fair Passes

Fair passes are available now at the Extension Office. Bring in a copy of your fair entry form if you have already turned it in, or pick up your passes when you turn your entry form in. Fair passes will be avail be here until August 19 (the start of the fair) so no need to make a special trip here to get your passes. Passes are also available for parents at the Premium Office on the fairgrounds. These 5 day passes are $14 for the first pass and $6 for the second pass. There is a limit of 2 passes per family. These passes must be purchases before the fair opens on the first day. Ada County 4-H leaders who have met their leader requirements may also pick up their fair passes at the Extension Office.

Ada County Oral Presentations

It really is that time of year again. Join us July 19, 20, and 21 at the Ada County Extension Office. Call 287-5900 to schedule your appointment no later than Friday, July 15. If you have never participated in the Oral Presentations this is a great time to share your knowledge with others. There five (5) categories that you may participate in. 1) Demonstrations: A demonstration is showing how. It is making or doing something. There may even be an end product! It is also explaining and doing. 2) Illustrated Talk: An illustrated talk is talking, telling how, and you may also show pictures, charts, model equipment, and other visual aids. 3) Speech: A speech uses only the spoken word and gestures while presenting a topic. A speech does not include visual aids. 4) Dramatic Reading: Words and actions used to present material to either entertain or educate. May use your own material or another authors published material. Costumes, make-up, or props are required. 5) TV Commercials:

Fishing Camp

Do you like to fish? Want to learn more about fishing? Do you like free? You have got to see this Fishing Camp on Saturday, July 9 at Sawyers Pond in Emmett. The fun starts at 10:00 am Learn about different kinds of tackle, visit the fly tying station, and learn about bug spray! This is a fun and educational event! Call 365-6363 for more information.

Don't forget if you're bored we still have day camps! Island Treasure Hunt July 25 Ages: 10 to 14 Use GPS to find treasures at Eagle Island State Park. Learn how to use GPS, find treasure, and have a great time at the park. Bug Out July 26 Ages: 9 to 13 If like bugs this camp is for you. Explore the world of insects by finding and studying them. Learn what makes them unique! Can't wait to see you at our day camps

Canyon County Fair

Wow it's really fair time! It came way too fast so here's a couple reminders for those who will be showing at the Canyon County Fair. Today, July 1st is the deadline to turn in livestock fair entry forms. These forms must be turned in to the Canyon County Extension Office by 5:00 pm. Call 459-6003 if you have questions. The forms are available at the Ada County Extension Office along with the Canyon County Fairbook. Check the fairbook for final weigh in times and which gate to use. Canyon County Fair is July 28 to 31 and market livestock sale is on the July 30.
