4-H Teen Advocate for Healthy Living

Are you interested in nutrition, fitness, cooking, and overall healthy living? This is a great opportunity to share your interests! We're looking for Healthy Living Advocates! You must be at least 14 and complete 9th grade by the end of the 2017 school year. Training will be provided to advocates in the following areas: Healthy living strategies Basic nutrition Cooking Shopping Food Safety You will promote healthy living in your community, set up a service learning project, and gain leadership skills and experience working with younger youth. Two advocates will be selected to attend the National Youth Summit on Healthy Living. To learn more call 287-5900.

Ada County 4-H Open House

Come see what 4-H has to Offer!  This is a great opportunity to meet our 4-H club leaders and members and see what's going on with 4-H! Learn about the projects we're offering! See what 4-H youth have done in your community. Learn how you can get involved as a parent, leader, or a member. What are projects? Projects are hands on activities. 4-H members choose what they would like to learn about during the 4-H year. Projects include cooking, sewing, animals, science, and just about any other area you can picture! What are 4-H clubs? 4-H members join a club that is offering the same type of projects that they are interested in learning about. They will meet with that club throughout the year. Each club sets their own meeting dates, times, and locations. What other activities are available? Photography Day Camp

Learn about digital SLR cameras and new editing techniques in this camp. Want to learn new tricks with your GoPro? Make your pictures exciting? Come to this camp and check it out! Cake Decorating Class

If you mastered the Level 1 Wilton Cake Decorating book then check out the Level 2 class starting soon. We're offering a Level 2 Cake Decorating Class focusing on making flowers, managing and mixing colors, and layer cakes. The class will be held at the Ada County Extension Office. By competing this project you will be qualified to show your project at the Western Idaho Fair during the 4-H events! Check out the Cake Decorating registration form for more information.

Summer Day Camps in Ada County

We have fun and educational activities for children ages 5 and up this summer! Our day camps are open to all youth, you don't have to be in 4-H to attend the day camps. There will be 3 different Lego robotics camps so there's something for everyone! Beginner Robotics: ages 5 to 7, July 5-7, $35 Junior Robotics: ages 8 to 12, July 18-21, $50 Sumo Bots: ages 9 to 14, August 1-4, $50 There will also be Photography class focusing on digital SLR cameras and learning how to manipulate digital media! Ada County 4-H June Activities

There are so many events going on during the summer months with 4-H that hopefully we haven't left any out! Save this calendar of events so you don't miss out on anything. June 10-12: State Archery Contest, Caldwell Gun Club. This is also a qualifying event for the national contest! June 10-13: June Kids Camp, 3 days in Donnelly by the lake, camping with friends in cabins! June 13: Begin registering for the County Oral Presentations. Call 287-5900 or email dhobbs@uidaho.edu to schedule your appointment. Blue ribbon presentations will be qualified to compete at the district contest during the Western Idaho Fair. June 16-1: District II Horse Camp, Donnelly. Bring your horse to a great camp. Trail rides, workshops, this is an opportunity to spend time camping with your horse. June 17: Idaho Youth Pig Camp at the Expo Idaho. Learn more about the Idaho swine industry, showmanship, fair preparation and more. The cost is $15. Register by June 13 to guarantee a shirt! I

4-H Clubs Pet food Drive

4-H clubs are invited to collect food for the Idaho Humane Society. Bring your donations by July 1st to the Ada County Extension Office. The club that collects the most food will receive a tour of the Idaho Humane Society. We're asking everyone to help collect food. You can also call the Idaho Humane Society and find where they have the most need. Help your club win a tour! Check out the Pet Food Drive flyer for more information.

Western Idaho Fair 4-H Fair Entry Forms

Now that school's out and summer feels like it's here we're thinking about the fair! There are some changes to the FCS fair entry forms. Here's what you need to know: Turn all FCS (non-animal) fair entry forms and horse fair entry forms in to the Extension Office. Turn all animal forms (small and large animals) in to the Premium Office. Horse fair entry forms are due on Friday, July 22. All other forms are due on Monday, August 1. Interview Evaluations for everyone (except the horse project) are being scheduled a different way this year. Please see the instructions for how to schedule your appointments. Interviews will be held on August 15 and 16 at Expo Idaho.

4-H Adventure Camp, overnight camps!

We offer two kids camps for grades 3-5th and one Teen camp for grades 6-8th during the summer in Donnelly, ID. 4-H Adventure Camp is a perfect place for kids and teens to have fun and experience new things! Campers stay in cabins on Cascade Lake near Donnelly. There will be canoeing, swimming, and many other activities for everyone! June Kids Camp June 10-13 Grades 3-5 $190 August Kids Camp August 5-8 Grades 3-5 $190 Teen Camp July 11-15 Grades 6-8 $230 Fill out the 4-H Adventure Camp registration form to go!

Idaho 4-H Archery Contest

It's time for the annual state 4-H Archery Contest to be held June 10-12 at the Caldwell Gun Club in Caldwell! This contest is open to 4-H members ages 8 and up (ages as of January 1, 2016) The scores will also be used to determine overall eligibility to the 2017 National 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational. There will be a 1/2 FITA and 3-D course of fire. For more information please see the Archery Registration Form. We can always use more volunteers. Call 287-5900 if you are interested in helping with the contest. There will also be RV sites available for $10 a night or a full hook-up RV park within a mile from the event.

Junior Master Gardener Class

It's almost spring! Join us for a class to sharpen your gardening skills and learn about local wildlife and insects. This class is part of the Junior Master Gardener Program and will also give you the opportunity to complete a 4-H project to show at the Western Idaho Fair in August. Tuesdays, April 26 - May 31 6 to 7:30 pm Ada County Extension Office $30 4-H members, $45 non 4-H members Everyone is welcome and part of the class fee covers your enrollment in the Ada County 4-H program. Ada County Cake Decorating Class

Do you want to create and decorate your own cakes? This class will give you the basic skills needed to create beautiful cakes! You will complete a 4-H project (that you can show at the Western Idaho Fair) and master the basics of cake decorating! The class is open to youth ages 8-18 and begins on Sunday, April 3, 2016. Sunday's April 3 to May 1 2 pm Ada County Extension Office Cost $30 (4-H members) and $45 for non members (this includes a $15 4-H enrollment fee) To register return the registration form with your payment!

The 2016 Western Idaho Fair will be held Friday, August 19 to Sunday, August 28 and the Canyon County Fair is Thursday, July 28 to Sunday, July 31. Annual 4-H Benefit Dinner

Enjoy an entertaining evening featuring dinner, a live auction, and raffles to support and raise money for the Ada County 4-H Program! There will be featured themed packages to bid on including a private poker party and various dinner party events! Everyone is welcome to attend and support our program. Tickets are $30 each or two for $50. Tickets can be bought at the Ada County Extension Office or on this site using the top right order section.
