Livestock Weigh In

It's almost time for the initial weigh in for market animals. Don't forget to bring your COOL form to the weigh in. All 4-H members must be enrolled in 4-H before the weigh. This can be done online this year using 4-H Online. The enrollment fee still needs to be paid to the Extension Office. The fees are $14 for horse project and $10 for all other projects.

Ada County (WIF) Weigh In Dates
  • Beef - Saturday, March 16, Western Idaho Fairgrounds, 9 to 11 am
  • Swine - Tuesday, May 7, Western Idaho Fairgrounds, 4 to 7 pm
  • Sheep - Thursday, May 16, Western Idaho Fairgrounds, 4 to 7 pm

Canyon County Fair Weigh In Dates

  • Beef - Saturday, March 2, Treasure Valley Livestock Auction, 9 to 12 pm
  • Swine - Tuesday, April 16, Canyon County Fairgrounds, 4 to 7 pm
  • Sheep - Tuesday, May 14, Canyon County Fairgrounds, 4 to 7 pm
  • Market Goat - Tuesday, May 14, Canyon County Fairgrounds, 4 to 7 pm

Western Idaho Fair 4-H Fair Entry Forms

Now that school's out and summer feels like it's here we're thinking about the fair! There are some changes to the FCS fair entry forms. Here's what you need to know: Turn all FCS (non-animal) fair entry forms and horse fair entry forms in to the Extension Office. Turn all animal forms (small and large animals) in to the Premium Office. Horse fair entry forms are due on Friday, July 22. All other forms are due on Monday, August 1. Interview Evaluations for everyone (except the horse project) are being scheduled a different way this year. Please see the instructions for how to schedule your appointments. Interviews will be held on August 15 and 16 at Expo Idaho.

Idaho Horsemanship Award

Idaho Horsemanship Award applications are due Friday, February 3rd, 2012. This award is to test the skills and knowledge in horsemanship and is open to any youth in an organized horse program between the ages of 14 and 19 (age as of January 1, 2012) The written test will be held between February 27 and March 2. The performance test will be held Sunday, May 6 in Emmett.  You must first pass the written test to participate in the performance test.  Go to the State 4-H website to download the Horsemanship Application
