Shooting Sports Trainings

We're always looking for new shooting sports volunteers. If you have an interest in helping youth learn about our shooting sports program which includes, safety, care for firearms, proper handling, and shooting there are trainings in this area this fall!

To help with our shooting sports program 4-H volunteers must take the 4-H certified trainings in each discipline they would like to help with. Check out these trainings:

  • Archery, November 22, Emmett. The cost of this training is $50 and the registration deadline is November 14
  • Rifle, January 10, Emmett. The cost of this training is $50 and the registration deadline is January 2.
  • Shotgun, April 11, Caldwell. the cost of this training is $50 and the registration deadline is April, 3.

Western Idaho Fair 4-H Fair Entry Forms

Now that school's out and summer feels like it's here we're thinking about the fair! There are some changes to the FCS fair entry forms. Here's what you need to know: Turn all FCS (non-animal) fair entry forms and horse fair entry forms in to the Extension Office. Turn all animal forms (small and large animals) in to the Premium Office. Horse fair entry forms are due on Friday, July 22. All other forms are due on Monday, August 1. Interview Evaluations for everyone (except the horse project) are being scheduled a different way this year. Please see the instructions for how to schedule your appointments. Interviews will be held on August 15 and 16 at Expo Idaho.

Idaho Horsemanship Award

Idaho Horsemanship Award applications are due Friday, February 3rd, 2012. This award is to test the skills and knowledge in horsemanship and is open to any youth in an organized horse program between the ages of 14 and 19 (age as of January 1, 2012) The written test will be held between February 27 and March 2. The performance test will be held Sunday, May 6 in Emmett.  You must first pass the written test to participate in the performance test.  Go to the State 4-H website to download the Horsemanship Application
